The Tarot of the Old Path- Page of Cauldrons

The Tarot of the Old Path adheres more to the Wiccan style of traditional symbols, thus there are no Princesses. In Traditional Tarot, The Page is often an androgynous character and can be both masculine and feminine in nature.

The Page of Cauldrons is dressed in the blues of Water, the ruling element of this card. Here a young person is presented with a pensive expression and wearing a tall hat that suggests meditative skills.

The timed hair, and fashionable appearance suggests a perfectionist.

Bearing in the long slender trans-gender fingers of the left hand is a cauldron in which the Page is dripping three drops of water from the right hand; The three droplets of water along with the three crescent moons on the cauldron, symbolizes the Maid, Mother and Crone Trinity Goddess, giver of life, and are often presented as a form of Water. Some peoples call her Grandmother River, while others call her Mari the Ocean Mother. She is the Creatrix of a Thousand names.

Behind the young page is an acanthus flower, which in the language of flowers implies one who loves beauty and art.

The Primary meaning of the Page of Cauldrons, is that of a young man or young girl of light brown hair, who is both quiet and intelligent. A perfectionist, who is both studious and meditative.

Gold Foil-Page of Cups

Both the Rider-Waite-Smith/Gold Foil Page and the Tarot of the Old Path-Page of Cups or Cauldrons display a fair, pleasing person of studious and intent aspects. However, the Gold Foil Page of cups is contemplating a fish in a cup (RWS). This implies that someone or something is coming your way and it's going to wildly affect your emotions. You have been suddenly hit by a wave of intuition or inspiration or you have stumbled upon a new friend. Whatever it is, don't be afraid to wade on into these emotions. As a Qabalistic symbol the fish symbolizes a healthy sense of ambition towards achievement. As if we are all fish in the Ocean of the Great Mother (cup is a symbol of the Divine Womb) Binah.

The Qabalistic Tarot-Personality Birth Wheel-Pages are Princesses.

The Princess of Cups, of Thoth Tarot (a nontraditional tarot), and the Rider-Waite-Smith, Prophet, Modern Witch, Connolly, and B.O.T.A. Page of Cups are comparable cards. Waite, who knew the secrets of YHVH, didn't have Princesses in his deck, as he felt it would reveal too much of the Arcane mysteries that he swore to keep secret, so he and Dr. Paul Foster Case of B.OTA, kept the original "androgynous" medieval image of a Page. Crowley and Robert Wang thought all should know of the Divine God Name of Tetragrammaton (YHVH) which requires a Princes and Prince (see Thoth nontraditional blogs @ elitarotstrickingly.com/blogs). The androgynous medieval Page image of the Rider-Waite-Smith/Gold Foil Tarot deck is again mundane and effeminate. No secrets of ancient wisdom revealed here, but there is a suggestion of the feminine and the alchemical fish symbol of the "first matter", as a fish is shown with head above the rim of the cup. This also suggests life emerging from water or the sea, as does the water Lily motif of the page's garments. In the background is a beach and water illustration, further supporting the water element of this card. Hence, this cup represents the "Holy Grail"-the Feminine Creatrix of a Thousand names and the fish which is an alchemical symbol for the "first Matter" of creation.

The Page of cups also represents an extremely shrewd and calculating woman, making her a great businesswoman. However, she is extremely intuitive and sensitive to the feelings of others and easily earns the friendship and respect of business colleagues. The fact that she has keen insight into her own behavior and that of others, makes her a remarkably good manager of employees or those subordinate to her position. Even though she may be married and with children, her work usually comes first, implying that she is not terribly family orientated.

When the Page of Cups/Cauldron card is thrown in a divination, it implies:

  • A fair young person, one impelled to render service and with whom the Querent will be connected.
  • A studious youth.
  • News.
  • Message.
  • Application.
  • Reflection.
  • Meditation.
  • Also, these above things directed to business.
  • Pages/Princesses represent young people but also often show opinions, thoughts, ideas, -either in harmony with, or opposed to the subject.

When thrown in reversed:

  • Taste.
  • Artifice.
  • Inclination.
  • Attachment.
  • Seduction.
  • Deception.
