Radiant: Rider-Waite-Smith- Six of Pentacles

The Rider-Waite Six of Pentacles concentrates on the principle of sure success in all business matters. There is not a lot to explain in this card's illustration. We have a merchant, with his balance scales, counting out coins to supplicating grateful recipients. Above the scene, are the six pentacles, almost as six stars above. In Tarot Divination the sixes imply definite accomplishment and the carrying out of a matter.

However, 6 is not only a number of accomplishment, but also that of Christ- Buddha consciousness which in Qabalah is the Sixth Sephira-Tiphareth. Tiphareth is named Beauty, for it is the central Sun of the Tree of Life, where all paths join or radiate from. It is synchronicity of collective creations called the Soul. 6 is also the number of electron's in the very successful carbon atom.

Therefore, the 6's are of the Soul, being the highest state of consciousness that a personality can reach; However, a certain sacrifice is made as the 6 is also the number of the Dying Gods, implying a definite personality initiation of deconstruction in order for reconstruction that eventually brings success. However, this is only important knowledge to the student of higher mind. In a more prosaic light, success in all matters of business also requires a certain sacrifice and reorganization of skills.

B.O.T.A. Tarot- 6 of Pentacles

The B.O.T.A. Tarot-6 of Pentacles, shows 6 pentacles, in the copper-green colors of Venus, in a pattern resembling the Qabalistic Tree of Life. However, the Central Sun, is not shown as a pentacle. This may be because the symbol of the Pentacle is not the Pentagram, which has no circle around it and which is the symbol of Man, whose soul is the 6th Sephirotic being.

However, there is no explanation of why the central sun is not shown, for it is the 6th Sephiroth-Beauty, that rules this card. So I guess my explanation will do. Also the divinatory meanings of the B.O.T.A. 6 of Pentacles is the same as that of the Rider-Waite-Smith card.

When the 6/Six of Pentacles is thrown in a divination, it implies:

  • Presents.
  • Gifts.
  • Gratification.
  • Attention.
  • Vigilance.
  • Now is the accepted time.

If reversed, it implies:

  • Envy.
  • Desire.
  • Cupidity.
  • Jealousy.
  • Illusion.
