B.O.T.A. Tarot- 3 of Cups
The Rider-Waite-Smith THREE OF CUPS illustrates the THREE Dancing GRACES, an image popularized during the Renaissance. Again, more of a traditional representation than the Thoth Deck or more modern renditions of Tarot; however faithful to the meaning of the Four Threes of Tarot, as they generally mean the realization of an action. The Action here is dancing in a circle implying the spiraling energy of flow. Here, the three maidens are shown dancing with cups uplifted in a fertile cornucopia style of garden. They seem to be pledging one another. The Three of Cups, of both the Rider-Waite-Smith and B.O.T.A. Tarot, represent the conclusion of any matter in plenty, perfection, and merriment.
The B.O.T.A. Tarot-3 of Cups, is again minimalistic in its display of cups. They are the silver and blue of the Element of Water, associated with the Unconscious mind, as it flows and ebbs. Here resides the intuitive, empathetic, fertile and fecund aspects of Imagination (Image-Making). The 3 cups are placed in a triangular form, implying a "plane".
A plane is a 2 dimensional figure that, In geometry, a plane is a flat surface that extends forever in two dimensions, but has no thickness. In Western Hermetic Qabalah, a plane is a triangular feature of 3 Sephiroth on the Tree of Life. Multi dimensional planes, create the Cosmic Fractal of the Macrocosm and microcosmic reflection there of.
All of this is hinted at in the triangular form shown on the Builders of the Adytum 3 of Cups card. Implying the infinite supply of Grace in this Universe of I AM. Hence, Abundance from the Divine Feminine is implied here.
When the 3 of Cups is thrown during a reading, the querent will be experiencing:
- A 3 week, or 3 month period of plenty, hospitality, drinking, eating , pleasure, dancing and merriment.
- New clothes are also a possibility, as in a new wardrobe.
- A surfacing of Love, Joy, gladness, kindness, and bounty.
- Passive success seen as good luck and fortune.
- This seems to be the Bacchanalian life of the cornucopia..... have a ball, but don't try and to hold on to it, just let the twinkle of Joy in your "I" guide you into a new day of sensual experiences... Let the Spring be spring, the Summer be summer etc.
